About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic 360-degree lighting for outdoor scenes, featuring a frozen lake. Captured in a clear morning, this 2K equirectangular HDRI environment map depicts a serene winter landscape centered around a partially frozen lake. The scene includes bare trees, a metal safety railing bordering the water, and a concrete path. The low-contrast, cool-toned lighting provides soft shadows and natural highlights, suitable for outdoor architectural renders. The 360-degree capture offers a full panoramic view of the surroundings, ensuring accurate light distribution and realistic reflections on glass or metallic surfaces within a 3D environment, maintaining consistent illumination across the entire scene.

The download is a 5.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment slot of your rendering engine's world settings. Adjust the rotation to align the sun position with your scene's primary light source. The high-dynamic-range data ensures that your materials, particularly reflective surfaces, receive accurate lighting information. Scale the intensity to suit your project's exposure requirements, and use it in conjunction with additional light sources if specific shadows need further definition in the foreground.

This environment map is ideal for architectural visualisations of exterior residential or public park projects requiring a cold, clear, winter morning aesthetic. It works effectively for scenes featuring landscape architecture, waterfront developments, or rural building designs. Professionals can use this to provide context-aware reflections for glazing and metallic elements in exterior renders. It serves as an excellent backdrop for mid-range and long-distance shots, providing a natural, non-distracting environment that integrates well with various architectural styles, particularly those involving natural materials.
