About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic sunrise lighting and a panoramic mountain landscape for 3D rendering. The Fouriesburg Mountain Lookout 2 environment map captures a high-dynamic-range panoramic view of a rugged, rocky hilltop at sunrise. The focal point is a small, weathered brick structure set against a vast, undulating landscape of hills and sparse vegetation. The lighting is defined by the soft, directional warmth of a rising sun balanced against a clear, cool blue sky. This combination produces natural, soft-contrast ambient illumination with distinct, long shadows that ground 3D assets effectively within the scene. The texture of the surrounding terrain is rich in detail, offering natural colour variations.

The download is a 6.1 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this equirectangular map, load the file into the environment or background slot of your rendering engine. Ensure the mapping type is set to spherical or environment. You can rotate the map to align the sun position with your scene's desired lighting direction. Because this file contains high-dynamic-range data, it will automatically drive global illumination and create accurate reflections on reflective surfaces within your project, providing a consistent, realistic lighting environment without the need for additional complex light setups.

This HDRI is suited for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design, or concept art requiring a natural, remote setting. It works well for projects featuring rustic structures, mountain cabins, or outdoor viewpoints where a serene, early-morning atmosphere is desired. Professionals will find it useful for testing materials under natural light or for creating realistic backgrounds in wide-angle shots. It pairs effectively with natural stone or brick textures and provides a neutral, expansive backdrop that does not distract from the primary architectural subject.
