About this asset

Farmland Overcast is a 2K equirectangular HDRI environment map providing soft, low-contrast diffuse lighting for 3D architectural scenes. This high-dynamic-range image captures an expansive, flat agricultural landscape under a heavy, overcast sky. The horizon is low and broad, dominated by muted green cultivated rows and brown soil, intersected by a natural grass track leading into the distance. The lighting is remarkably soft and even, lacking harsh shadows or high-intensity highlights, which makes it ideal for achieving realistic, uniform illumination in outdoor renders. The sky features detailed, textured cloud cover that provides a neutral, cool-toned ambient light, suitable for maintaining subtle reflections and natural colour balance across complex architectural materials.

The download is a 6.2 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the file into the environment or world lighting slot of your rendering engine. As an equirectangular projection, it maps seamlessly onto a spherical background, providing consistent 360-degree illumination. Because the light is naturally diffuse, it performs well without needing additional sun-light sources, though you may adjust the exposure or gamma settings within your software to fine-tune the brightness levels to match your specific model's requirements and desired mood.

This HDRI environment is best suited for exterior architectural visualisation, particularly for rural housing, landscape design projects, or agricultural masterplans. It provides a neutral, realistic backdrop for projects where soft, overcast lighting is required to avoid artificial-looking sharp shadows. Professionals working on site-specific residential developments or rural hospitality concepts will find this asset useful for creating a grounded, natural atmosphere. It pairs effectively with grass, soil, and textured concrete materials, providing a balanced, low-contrast environment that keeps the focus on the building geometry.
