About this asset

This 2K high-dynamic-range environment map captures an overcast evening sky over a rural field, providing realistic lighting for 3D renders. The environment map features a muted, overcast evening sky with a soft, low-intensity light source near the horizon, typical of a late dusk setting. The panorama includes a flat, expansive rural landscape with dark, ploughed earth and green grass, creating a neutral and natural backdrop. The lighting distribution is diffuse, ensuring soft shadows and consistent ambient illumination across complex 3D scenes. This file provides a balanced exposure range, suitable for architectural visualisations that require a calm, atmospheric exterior environment without harsh directional sunlight or overwhelming colour casts.

The download is an 8.7 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the file into the primary world lighting slot of your preferred 3D rendering engine. It functions as a complete light source, eliminating the need for additional artificial lamps or complex sun rigs. Because the reflections are derived from the same source as the lighting, the scene will maintain high visual coherence. Adjust the intensity and rotation within your renderer settings to align the horizon line and light direction with your specific architectural model for optimal results.

This HDRI is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations and landscape design projects set in rural or semi-rural environments. It works effectively for dusk or early evening scenes where a soft, atmospheric mood is required. Designers often use such files to provide realistic ambient occlusion and environment reflections on glass and metal surfaces in residential or hospitality projects. It is a versatile choice for architectural renderers looking for authentic, low-contrast natural lighting to ground their models within a believable, expansive outdoor setting.
