About this asset

Drackenstein Quarry Pure Sky is a high-dynamic-range environment map providing soft sunrise lighting and natural sky reflections. This equirectangular environment map captures a serene sunrise over an open horizon. The sky features a soft, warm glow near the sun, transitioning into a palette of pale blues and scattered, wispy clouds. The ground plane is represented by a calm, reflective surface, suggesting a still body of water or a smooth, polished quarry floor. This combination provides a low-contrast, balanced light source suitable for scenes requiring gentle, natural illumination. The image is delivered in a standard 2K resolution, ensuring efficient performance while maintaining accurate colour temperature and light distribution for realistic rendering.

The download is a 4.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this file, load the equirectangular map into the environment or background slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the sun with your scene's primary light source, ensuring the soft, warm rim light enhances your model's geometry. Because this map contains high-dynamic-range data, it will drive global illumination, providing realistic ambient light and reflections on glossy materials. If necessary, use the exposure or gamma controls in your software to fine-tune the brightness of the sun.

This environment is ideal for architectural visualisations that require a tranquil, early-morning atmosphere. It works particularly well for exterior residential projects, hospitality concepts, or landscape designs where a clean, uncluttered horizon is preferred. Use it to achieve subtle, soft-shadow lighting in both exterior shots and interior scenes where large windows look out onto an open landscape. It pairs effectively with modern or minimalist designs, providing a neutral backdrop that does not distract from the primary subject while offering high-quality, natural-looking reflections.
