About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic sunset lighting for 3D scenes, featuring a rural veld landscape. The environment map captures a wide-angle, panoramic view of a rural veld landscape at sunset. The composition features a dirt track winding through sparse, dry grasses and scrubby bushes, framed by mature trees under a vast, clear-to-partly-cloudy sky. The colour palette is dominated by muted earthy browns, sage greens, and the soft golden-yellow hues of the setting sun. This HDR data provides high-dynamic-range lighting information, ensuring accurate light distribution, soft shadows, and natural reflections for architectural or landscape visualisations that require a realistic, open-air rural backdrop.

The download is a 5.8 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment into your 3D workflow, load the.hdr file into the environment or background slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the rotation to align the sun’s position with your scene’s primary light source, and scale the background intensity to balance the global illumination. This file is suitable for use as a primary light source for soft, ambient sunset lighting or as a background plate for exterior renders in software such as 3ds Max, V-Ray, Corona, or Blender.

This HDRI is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design projects, and automotive or product renders that require a natural, rustic setting. It pairs effectively with scenes featuring open fields, rural retreats, or remote residential developments. Professionals searching for authentic, outdoor lighting conditions often specify this type of equirectangular map to achieve consistent, high-quality environmental reflections and soft, late-afternoon illumination without the complexities of manual light setup. It is a versatile choice for any project needing a calm, naturalistic, and expansive outdoor atmosphere.
