About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic midday lighting and a desolate highway background for 3D renders. The environment map captures a wide-angle view of a derelict, cracked asphalt highway under a clear, bright midday sun. The scene is defined by high-contrast lighting conditions, typical of an open, exposed road environment. To the sides, dry scrub vegetation and embankments frame the path, creating a sense of isolation. The texture of the road surface features intricate, weathered crack patterns that provide realistic ground reflections and shadows. This asset is well-suited for projects requiring a harsh, natural, and unshaded exterior lighting setup with a distinct, rugged, and abandoned aesthetic.

The download is a 5.7 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this 2K HDR file directly into the environment slot of any major rendering engine or 3D software. Use the map to drive global illumination, background reflections, and sharp, directional sunlight shadows. Because the file is equirectangular, it maps seamlessly onto a spherical projection, allowing for rotation to align the sun position with your scene's primary light sources. Adjust exposure and white balance settings within your renderer to match the intensity of the overhead midday sun to your specific project scale.

Ideal for architectural visualisations, automotive renders, and film background plates, this environment map excels in scenes requiring a desolate or industrial outdoor setting. It pairs effectively with weathered vehicle models, abandoned structure designs, or landscape architecture projects focusing on rural infrastructure. Professionals searching for a realistic desert or highway backdrop will find this asset useful for establishing a dry, sunny atmosphere. The high-contrast, clear-sky lighting is particularly effective for exterior scenes that demand hard shadows and a bright, expansive, and authentic outdoor feel.
