About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic winter riverside lighting and background for 3D architectural scenes. Captured in a winter landscape, this HDRI environment map features a low-contrast, cool-toned lighting profile characteristic of a temperate winter day. The scene depicts a dormant riverside field with sparse, bare-branched deciduous trees and rocky terrain under a partly cloudy blue sky. The panoramic capture delivers a balanced illumination suitable for exterior renders, providing natural ambient light and realistic reflections on surfaces. The equirectangular projection ensures seamless integration into 3D environments, preserving the soft, diffuse quality of the original site conditions across the full 360-degree dome.

The download is a 6.5 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this HDRI, load the file into the environment or background slot of your 3D rendering engine. Adjust the exposure and rotation parameters to align the sun position with your scene lighting requirements. The file is calibrated for standard high-dynamic-range workflows, allowing for fine-tuned control over intensity and contrast. It is recommended to use this map in conjunction with additional light sources if sharp shadows are required, as this environment provides primarily ambient, soft-fill lighting.

This environment map is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, landscape design projects, and rural residential concepts. It pairs effectively with winter-themed scenes or projects requiring neutral, natural lighting conditions. Professionals will find this asset useful for site-context integration, particularly when rendering buildings set within natural, undeveloped landscapes or riverbank environments. It is a versatile choice for scenes aiming for a realistic, slightly muted aesthetic that avoids the harsh contrast of direct mid-day sunlight, suitable for both still renders and animation.
