About this asset

This equirectangular HDR environment map captures a Roman belvedere terrace in morning light, providing realistic global illumination. The environment map features a panoramic view from a paved belvedere terrace overlooking a sprawling city skyline. The foreground includes classic-style stone columns, iron railings, and a cobble-paved plaza with patches of earth. The lighting conditions are set during a partly cloudy morning, casting soft, directional shadows across the ground plane. The composition offers a high-dynamic range, preserving detail in both the bright sky and the shaded areas near the terrace perimeter. It provides a balanced, naturalistic backdrop suitable for architectural visualization projects requiring an authentic sense of place.

The download is a 6 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this file, load the equirectangular HDR into the environment slot of your rendering engine. Adjust the exposure and rotation to align the sun position with your scene's primary light sources. Because this map contains full 32-bit data, it will drive global illumination and reflections accurately without needing additional light rigs. For best results in complex scenes, ensure the background plate is mapped to a dome light and adjust the white balance to match your project's specific colour temperature requirements.

This environment map is suited for exterior architectural renderings, particularly for projects located in historic urban settings or Mediterranean-style landscapes. It pairs well with high-end residential, hospitality, or public plaza designs where a sense of openness and heritage is desired. Professionals searching for natural outdoor lighting with a distinct architectural character will find this asset effective for establishing context in both concept design and final presentation phases. It is ideal for establishing a believable, high-contrast morning atmosphere in exterior sunlight simulations.
