Abandoned Apartment Walkway HDRI Environment Map

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides clear midday lighting for 3D scenes, featuring an abandoned apartment walkway. The environment captures a 360-degree view from a weathered apartment balcony. The scene includes overhead concrete soffits with significant paint degradation and exposed aggregate surfaces. A slender black metal railing encloses the walkway, offering a clear line of sight to a neighbouring building and surrounding greenery. The lighting conditions are consistent with a bright, clear midday sky, producing soft, natural shadows across the floor plane. This asset is ideal for projects requiring a sense of architectural decay, historical texture, or realistic outdoor environmental context in digital visualisations.

The download is a 6.3 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the.hdr file into your renderer's world lighting or background slot. The equirectangular projection ensures seamless alignment with your camera's field of view. Adjust the exposure or intensity values within your software's environment settings to balance the scene's ambient light with any additional artificial sources. Because this map provides both high-dynamic-range illumination and a detailed background, it acts as a primary light source for reflections and global illumination in architectural renders.

This HDRI is suited for architectural visualisations depicting urban renewal, historical documentation, or atmospheric narrative scenes. It pairs effectively with 3D models of similar Brutalist or mid-century residential architecture. Professionals often use this type of asset to ground outdoor scenes in realistic, non-uniform lighting conditions, providing authentic ambient occlusion and accurate reflections on glass and metal surfaces. It is a practical tool for designers working on exterior concepts, site context studies, or cinematic environments where a lived-in, aged aesthetic is required.
