Japanese paper hanging lanterns designed as a SketchUp model set, featuring fifteen character and mask illustrations over ribbed cylindrical shades. Fifteen cylindrical paper lanterns in the traditional chochin style feature horizontal ribbed framing and distinct graphic treatments. Each piece presents an individual theatrical mask, folklore character, or animal motif, including expressive kabuki face paint, oni demons, fox spirits, and tiger faces. The lanterns are finished with circular dark timber collar rims at both the top and bottom apertures.
The download is a 10.8 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model holding 15 separate objects. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.
In SketchUp, these lanterns operate as separate component instances, making it simple to duplicate arrays across dining zones or hang individual pendants. The cylindrical surface UVs cleanly support the wrapped face textures. For night visualization in V-Ray or Enscape, users can apply a two-sided translucent material with self-illumination or nest omnidirectional point lights inside each lantern volume.
These themed luminaires are well suited for hospitality and retail interiors, especially Japanese izakayas, noodle bars, Asian street food food halls, and festive commercial pop-ups. They coordinate naturally with timber slatted screens, bamboo panelling, exposed ceilings, and dark ceramic tiling. Visualizers commonly integrate them when detailing Asian restaurant pendant fixtures, decorative paper lanterns, and cultural hospitality environments.
