About this asset

This contemporary modular island sofa for SketchUp features a unique cross-shaped backrest design with woven rattan and striped fabric upholstery. Designed as a central focal point, this modular island sofa features a four-way seating configuration divided by a central, cross-shaped backrest structure. The frame is constructed from warm-toned timber, supporting deep, plush seat cushions upholstered in a grey and white striped fabric. The backrest panels are finished with traditional woven rattan cane detailing, providing a textured contrast to the fabric. Each seating section is complemented by oversized, solid cream-coloured scatter cushions. The entire assembly is elevated on tapered wooden legs, lending a refined, mid-century inspired silhouette to the piece.

The download is a 65.8 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

Within SketchUp, this model is organised into logical components for easy manipulation of individual cushions and the timber frame. Users should utilise the native layer system to isolate the upholstery from the structural elements, allowing for efficient texture mapping or material replacement. The model benefits from being placed in a central, open-plan space where it can be viewed from all angles. Ensure the component axes are correctly set to the base of the legs to facilitate precise snapping to floor planes.

This island sofa is ideal for large, open-plan living areas, hotel lobbies, and creative breakout spaces in modern offices. Its symmetrical form works effectively as a room divider or a central lounge feature in high-end commercial interiors. Designers looking for a statement piece that encourages interaction will find this configuration particularly useful. It pairs well with minimalist rugs and low-profile coffee tables, fitting seamlessly into projects requiring a balance of organic materials and contemporary, structured seating solutions.
