About this asset

This contemporary 3ds Max armchair features a curved grey fabric seat supported by a sculptural dark wood cross-base design. This armchair showcases a distinct contemporary aesthetic defined by its rounded, cocoon-like seating shell. The upper portion is upholstered in a neutral, textured grey fabric, providing a soft contrast to the rigid geometry below. A thick, plush back cushion and matching seat cushion offer comfort, while the frame is anchored by a dark-stained timber base. This base consists of two interlocking, curved elements that form a stable cross-shaped foundation. The proportions are compact and balanced, making it an ideal choice for accent seating where both comfort and a unique structural silhouette are required.

The download is a 16.6 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

In 3ds Max, this model is organised with logical layer naming to facilitate easy manipulation of the fabric and timber components. Users should apply a standard material library to the upholstery textures to adjust the fabric sheen or bump mapping as needed for specific lighting conditions. The base pivot point is centred at the floor level for intuitive placement within interior scenes. Ensure that the subdivision modifiers are managed during rendering to maintain the smooth curvature of the seat shell while optimising scene performance.

The armchair is well-suited for high-end residential living rooms, boutique hotel lobbies, or private reading nooks. Its neutral colour palette allows it to complement various interior styles, from minimalist to transitional. Designers often pair this piece with a low-profile coffee table or place it in a corner as a statement accent chair. Professionals searching for a modern lounge chair or a sculptural seating element for a reception area will find this model a versatile addition to their project library.
