About this asset

This contemporary 3ds Max armchair features deep blue velvet upholstery set against a slender, architectural black metal frame. Defined by its clean, rectilinear silhouette, this armchair balances plush comfort with a rigid structural aesthetic. The seat, backrest, and integrated armrests are enveloped in a rich, deep-blue velvet, providing a soft texture that contrasts with the sharp lines of the base. The frame is constructed from thin-profile black metal, forming a continuous open-box structure that cradles the upholstered body. Its proportions are compact yet comfortable, making it a versatile choice for modern interiors where a statement piece is needed without overwhelming the surrounding floor plan or spatial arrangement.

The download is a 4.9 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

To integrate this asset into a 3ds Max scene, import the geometry using the merge command to preserve existing material assignments. The model is organised with logical layers, allowing for easy selection of the frame and upholstery components. Users should ensure their scene scale is set to metric units for accurate placement. Apply custom lighting setups, such as an HDRI or area lights, to properly highlight the velvet’s high-sheen properties and the subtle reflections on the powder-coated metal frame surface.

This armchair is well-suited for high-end residential living rooms, boutique hotel lobbies, or executive office waiting areas. It pairs effectively with minimalist coffee tables or as a solitary accent piece in a reading corner. Designers often search for this type of furniture when specifying modern seating that offers a refined, luxurious look. It works particularly well in spaces featuring neutral colour palettes, where the deep blue upholstery can serve as a primary focal point while maintaining a sophisticated, uncluttered visual appeal.
