Japandi White and Wood Straight Staircase with Under-Stair Storage

This Japandi-style straight staircase for SketchUp features integrated under-stair storage niches and a minimalist glass balustrade. This architectural staircase assembly features a clean, minimalist design typical of Japandi interiors. The lower treads are finished in natural timber, while the main stringer and supporting wall structure are rendered in a crisp, matte white. A key design feature is the integrated storage wall beneath the stairs, which includes two recessed, illuminated niches for decorative display. The upper section is enclosed by a frameless glass balustrade with a slim black handrail, maintaining a light, open visual profile while ensuring safety. The proportions are balanced to suit contemporary residential layouts.

The download is a 121 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

To integrate this staircase into a SketchUp project, import the model and align the base with your ground floor level. Use the scale tool to adjust the riser height if necessary to match your specific floor-to-floor dimension. The components are organised by material, allowing for easy texture replacement or adjustment of the wood grain direction. Ensure you map the lighting for the recessed niches separately to achieve the soft, ambient glow shown in the reference imagery.

This staircase is ideal for modern residential projects, particularly those focusing on minimalist or Japandi design aesthetics. It serves as a functional focal point in open-plan living areas, effectively combining circulation with built-in storage solutions. Architects and interior designers will find this asset useful for residential renovations, new-build housing, and high-end apartment interiors where space efficiency and clean lines are prioritised. It pairs well with light oak flooring, neutral plaster walls, and curated decorative objects placed within the integrated display niches.
