The "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism (UAUIM) in Bucharest stands as Romania's oldest and most prominent academic institution in the fields of architecture and urban planning. It upholds a rich tradition of architectural higher education, closely linked to the evolution of modern Romania from the mid-19th century. Founded through various institutional developments starting in 1864, it achieved independence as the Higher School of Architecture in 1904 and was officially renamed "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urban Planning in 1951. UAUIM offers comprehensive academic training shaped by Romanian architectural traditions, contemporary global insights, and robust collaborations with esteemed international professional bodies such as UIA, UNESCO, EAAE, and ACE. The university is organized into three main faculties: the Faculty of Architecture, the Faculty of Urban Planning, and the Faculty of Interior Architecture, each contributing to a diverse and specialized educational landscape.

The Architecture Diploma awarded by UAUIM is consistently validated by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), allowing graduates to be exempted from RIBA examinations Part One and Part Two for professional practice in the UK. Additionally, since September 2008, the Diploma is recognized for free movement and professional practice in all EU member states, in accordance with Directive 2005/36/EC (2013/55/EC).

Where co-creation lives.

The Master of Architecture is accredited by the Architects Board of Western Australia through the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia (AACA) and is recognised for professional registration nationally. The five-year combination of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science) and the Master of Architecture meets the academic requirements for registration as an architect in Western Australia. The course is also recognised by the Commonwealth Association of Architects. Graduates are eligible for associate membership of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects upon completing approved postgraduate practical experience. Internationally, the course is recognised by architectural boards in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
