Archade is LinkedIn + GitHub (Stop Treating it Like Instagram)
We are often asked if we are a 'Social Network.' We aren't. We are a 'Version Control System' for the AEC industry. Here is the difference.
Archade is LinkedIn + GitHub (Stop Treating it Like Instagram)
We are often asked if we are a 'Social Network.' We aren't. We are a 'Version Control System' for the AEC industry. Here is the difference.
The Misclassification of Archade
When we pitch Archade to investors or firms, they often say: "So it's like Instagram for Architects?"
We wince. Because Instagram is a Broadcast Channel. Archade is a Repository.
The difference is structural, not cosmetic. And understanding this difference is key to understanding the future of the AEC ecosystem.
The Tri-Partite Model
To understand where we sit, look at the Software Engineering ecosystem.
- LinkedIn: The Professional Directory. (Who you are).
- Twitter/Facebook: The Broadcast Tower. (What you say).
- GitHub: The Work Record. (What you built).
Architecture has never had a GitHub. We have had directories (AIA, LinkedIn). We have had broadcasts (Instagram, ArchDaily). But we have never had a unified, version-controlled record of who built what.
The "Commit" vs The "Post"
This is the core unit of difference.
The Post (Instagram):
- Goal: Dopamine.
- Metric: Likes, Comments.
- Lifespan: 24-48 Hours.
- Nature: Performative.
The Commit (GitHub / Archade):
- Goal: Utility / Truth.
- Metric: Forks, Citations, Verifications.
- Lifespan: Indefinite.
- Nature: Structural.
When you add a project to Archade, you aren't "posting." You are committing a node to the graph. You are saying: "I declare that on this date, I performed this role, using these tools, with these people." That declaration becomes a permanent part of the industry's history.
Why "Network Effects" are Different Here
On Instagram, network effects are based on Virality. If a celebrity shares your photo, you win.
On Archade, network effects are based on Dependency.
- If
Project XusesProduct Y. - And
Engineer Zworked onProject X. - Then
Product YandEngineer Zare now linked forever in the graph.
This creates a Gravity Well of reputation. You don't need to be viral. You just need to be connected. If you are the structural engineer for the Louvre Abu Dhabi, you don't need to post selfies. The sheer gravity of being linked to that project node pulls traffic to you for decades.
The "Repo" Economy
In software, nobody hires a developer without looking at their GitHub Repo. "Show me your commits."
In the near future, nobody will hire an architect without looking at their Archade Graph. "Show me your nodes."
The portfolio (a marketing PDF) will be replaced by the Graph (a verified history).
Conclusion
You can keep Instagram for your friends. You can keep LinkedIn for your recruiters. But if you want to record your Work, you need a Repo.
Stop Posting. Start Committing.
