Why Job Boards Don't Work for Design Roles (The 'Visual' Blindspot)

Text-based job ads for visual roles describe nothing. Why 'Project Architect - 5 Years Exp' describes 10,000 different people, and none of the ones you want.

The "Description" Failure

Go to a standard job board (Indeed, LinkedIn). Search "Architect."

Job Description:

  • Must know Revit.
  • 5+ years experience.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience in commercial projects.

This describes everyone. It describes the genius who designed the Google HQ. It describes the person who designed a strip mall in Ohio. It describes the person who draws toilets all day.

Text cannot capture Design Sensibility.

The Visual Mismatch

Firms don't hire "Revit Operators." They hire "Aesthetics."

  • "We need a Modernist."
  • "We need someone who understands brutalism."
  • "We need someone who can detail a glass curtain wall."

You cannot search for "Brutalism" on Indeed. So the Firm posts a generic text ad. They get 500 generic text resumes. And the Hiring Manager has to open 500 PDFs to see if any of them have the "Vibe."

It is a massive waste of time.

The "Visual First" Search

Archade inverts the hiring flow. We start with the Image, not the Text.

  1. The Query: The Firm looks at their own projects. "We do High-End Residential."
  2. The Match: The system finds candidates who have worked on High-End Residential projects.
  3. The Result: A grid of Work, not a list of names.

The Hiring Manager scans the Work. They see a beautiful detail. They click. Then they read the resume. "Oh, this person has 5 years experience."

Work First. Resume Second. This matches how Architects actually think. We judge with our eyes, then verify with our brains.

The Death of the Bullet Point

If you are a designer, stop applying to bullet-point jobs with bullet-point resumes. You are fighting a losing battle against the keyword robot. Play the Visual Game. Put your work where it can be seen, filtered, and loved.

Don't tell them you are good. Show them.
