About this asset

This collection of 63 high-resolution city skyline backgrounds provides realistic exterior vistas for 3ds Max architectural scenes. This set features sixty-three distinct photographic captures of expansive urban environments, ranging from dense high-rise residential blocks and industrial clusters to green-heavy city outskirts. Each image presents a wide-angle perspective of city horizons, capturing varying daylight conditions, sky clarity, and seasonal vegetation density. The compositions are specifically curated to function as backdrop elements, offering depth and context to architectural visualisations. These images provide a naturalistic horizon line, essential for grounding 3D models within a broader urban fabric, ensuring that exterior renders maintain a sense of scale and geographic presence.

The download is a 163 MB compressed archive with the textures and a ready-made 3ds Max (.max) material library, so the maps arrive already assigned to materials you can drag onto your own geometry.

These assets are intended for use as environment maps or mapped onto simple geometry such as planes or cylinders positioned behind the main 3D model. In 3ds Max, professionals should assign these images to the diffuse or self-illumination slot of a standard or physical material. Proper alignment and scaling are required to match the camera angle of the scene, typically using a background-specific UV map or by adjusting the environment settings to ensure seamless integration.

These backgrounds are indispensable for exterior architectural visualisations, particularly for high-rise residential projects, master planning submissions, and urban design studies. They are best suited for projects requiring a realistic context, whether demonstrating the impact of a new development on a skyline or setting a scene for a luxury apartment brochure. They pair effectively with daylight systems and HDRI lighting setups. Professionals searching for 'city backdrops', 'skyline plates', or 'exterior environment assets' will find these useful for final render compositing.
