Night Sky HDRI 008

Night Sky HDRI 008 is a 2K high-dynamic-range environment map featuring a clear, star-filled celestial expanse with the Milky Way. This 2K resolution HDRI environment map captures a crisp night sky, dominated by the dense, textured band of the Milky Way galaxy. The colour palette is composed of deep midnight blues, blacks, and subtle nebulous browns, providing a realistic, cool-toned ambient light source. Included in the spherical projection are three reference spheres—chrome, matte grey, and glossy black—which demonstrate how the sky map influences reflections and diffuse highlights in a 3D scene. The image provides a consistent, high-contrast lighting environment suitable for exterior night-time renderings, ensuring that reflections and background sky match perfectly for seamless integration.

The download is a 10.7 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the file into the primary world lighting slot of your rendering engine. Because it is a high-dynamic-range image, it will automatically handle both the ambient illumination and the background plate, ensuring that reflections on metallic or glass surfaces are physically accurate. No additional light rigs are strictly necessary, though artists may add subtle point lights to emphasize specific architectural features. Ensure the rotation is set correctly to align the Milky Way band with the desired focal point of your composition.
