About this asset

This 2K high-dynamic-range environment map provides realistic sunset lighting and reflections for exterior architectural visualisations. Captured during the transition of a sunset, this HDRI provides a soft, warm light profile with deep blue overhead tones characteristic of the late afternoon. The environment features a rural, open landscape setting with a low horizon line, making it ideal for scenes requiring natural, non-directional atmospheric lighting. The map includes a full 360-degree range of data, ensuring that reflections on metallic or glass surfaces remain physically accurate relative to the light source. It is designed to act as the primary light source for 3D scenes, eliminating the need for complex artificial rigs.

The download is an 8.8 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To use this asset, load the file into the environment or world lighting slot of your preferred renderer. Adjust the rotation to align the sun position with your scene's primary focal point and modify the exposure settings to match the desired brightness of your output. Because the high-dynamic-range data contains the full luminance spectrum, it provides both the ambient illumination and the background plate, ensuring that materials react correctly to the captured sunset light without additional tweaking.

This environment map is well-suited for exterior architectural projects, particularly those set in rural or expansive landscapes during the golden hour. It works effectively for residential housing developments, countryside infrastructure, or panoramic site visualisations where natural light is required. Professionals can use this in early stage concept renders or final presentation imagery to achieve a consistent, soft-lit aesthetic. It pairs well with vegetation and natural materials, providing a balanced, realistic ambient light that avoids the harsh shadows typical of midday sun settings.
