About this asset

Evening Sky HDRI 001 A is a 2K high-dynamic-range environment map providing realistic global illumination for architectural rendering. This 2K high-dynamic-range environment map captures the soft, diffused light of an overcast evening sky over a rural landscape. The panorama features a flat horizon line with distant suburban housing and a stretch of road, providing a natural setting for exterior scenes. The light distribution is consistent with late-day conditions, offering a balanced mix of ambient tones and subtle directional light. The file includes a spherical projection that ensures accurate reflections on metallic surfaces and correct light fall-off on matte materials, making it a reliable choice for achieving photorealistic environmental lighting.

The download is a 9.2 MB compressed archive containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To utilize this HDRI file, load it into the environment slot of your rendering engine's world lighting settings. Because it contains both the light source and the background reflection data, it eliminates the need for complex multi-light rigs. Adjust the exposure or intensity value to match the scale of your scene, and rotate the map around the vertical axis to align the sky's primary light direction with your project's orientation for correct shadow placement and realistic material highlights.

This environment map is ideal for exterior architectural visualisations, particularly those requiring a calm, overcast evening mood. It integrates seamlessly into residential site plans, rural housing developments, or landscape design projects where natural, non-intrusive lighting is required. Professionals often pair this with ground plane assets to ground the model within the rural context shown in the map. Search for this asset when you need to quickly establish a soft, realistic outdoor atmosphere without the harsh shadows associated with direct midday sunlight.
