About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides realistic overcast lighting for an old-town cobblestone parish road scene. Captured in a historic European setting, this HDRI environment map features an authentic cobblestone road surface flanked by traditional stone-clad buildings. The lighting profile is defined by a soft, overcast sky, resulting in diffuse, low-contrast illumination and subtle, natural shadows. The scene includes detailed architectural elements such as masonry walls, tiled roofs, and narrow pedestrian pathways. This high-dynamic-range image ensures that reflective surfaces in a 3D model receive accurate ambient light and colour information, maintaining consistent environmental fidelity without the harsh highlights typically found in direct sunlight scenarios.

The download is a 6.5 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

To integrate this environment map, load the.hdr file into the background or environment slot of your rendering engine. Use the rotation parameters to align the scene’s light source with your primary model orientation. Because this map contains high-dynamic-range data, it will automatically influence the reflections and global illumination of your materials, providing a soft, natural base light that complements interior or exterior architectural visualisations without requiring additional complex light setups.

This environment map is ideal for architectural visualisations requiring a muted, historical, or European town aesthetic. It pairs effectively with scenes featuring traditional masonry, stone cladding, or heritage building renovations. Professionals working on residential streetscapes, town planning presentations, or historical restoration projects will find this asset useful for establishing a cohesive, overcast atmosphere. It provides a reliable, neutral lighting backdrop that allows primary architectural features to stand out while maintaining a realistic sense of place and environmental context.
