About this asset

This equirectangular HDRI environment map provides soft, natural overcast lighting for architectural renders of urban waterfronts. Captured at a lakeside park, this environment map features a muted, overcast sky that produces soft, diffuse shadows and low-contrast illumination. The scene includes a wide water surface, gravel pathways, and mature trees with autumnal foliage, framed by a distant cityscape skyline. The neutral colour palette and even lighting distribution make it a versatile tool for achieving realistic daylight conditions without harsh directional light. This high-dynamic-range file captures the subtle ambient light values of an urban waterfront, ensuring consistent, professional-grade reflections on glass and metallic surfaces in your 3D scenes.

The download is a 6 MB file containing a 2K equirectangular high-dynamic-range environment map, ready to load as dome or world lighting in Blender, 3ds Max, SketchUp renderers, Unreal Engine and D5.

Load this.hdr file directly into the environment slot of your rendering engine to establish global illumination and background reflections. Because the map provides a 360-degree dome, it serves as both the primary light source and the visible backdrop. Adjust the exposure and rotation parameters within your software to align the horizon line and light intensity with your specific architectural project requirements. It is best used for exterior scenes where a soft, cloudy day aesthetic is desired for ambient lighting.

This environment map is ideal for exterior visualisations of residential, commercial, or public urban developments situated near water. It pairs effectively with modern building facades that require realistic, non-directional reflections. Professionals can utilise this asset for architectural competitions, planning applications, or marketing renders where a calm, overcast atmosphere is needed to highlight materiality and form. Search for this file when developing urban masterplans, waterfront park designs, or city-centre hospitality projects that benefit from a natural, diffused lighting setup to ground the 3D model within a context.
