About this asset

This rectangular area rug for 3ds Max features a dense, mottled grey textile finish suitable for contemporary interior floor plans. Presented as a flat, rectangular surface, this area rug exhibits a high-contrast, mottled grey pattern that suggests a deep, textured pile or woven fabric construction. The visual weight of the surface treatment provides a neutral yet dynamic foundation, ideal for anchoring furniture groupings. Its proportions are standard for a versatile floor covering, designed to sit flush against floor planes. The edges are clean and defined, allowing for seamless placement within a larger interior scene. This asset serves as a functional textile element to introduce softness and depth to minimalist or modern environments.

The download is a 5.8 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

To integrate this asset into a 3ds Max project, import the model and position it directly onto the floor plane, ensuring it is slightly offset to avoid Z-fighting. Users should apply a displacement or normal map if the native material requires additional surface depth. It is recommended to adjust the tiling settings if the rug needs to cover a larger area, and to assign a standard fabric material shader to achieve the desired light absorption and reflection properties in the final render.

This area rug is an essential component for residential living rooms, master bedrooms, and high-end office reception areas where a tactile, neutral floor finish is required. It pairs effectively with modern sofa sets, coffee tables, and lounge chairs, acting as a grounding element that defines functional zones within open-plan spaces. Designers seeking to add visual texture to a room will find this piece versatile for both contemporary and transitional interior design projects, especially when styling floor layouts for architectural visualisation.
