About this asset

This mid-century 3ds Max armchair features a dark timber frame with tan leather sling-style upholstery for a classic look. Defined by its minimalist construction, this armchair showcases a robust dark-stained timber frame with distinctively shaped armrests. The seat and backrest are formed by thick, tan-coloured leather panels, which are tensioned against the frame to provide support. The design emphasises clean lines and structural honesty, with visible joinery and a low-slung profile. The leather panels feature cut-outs where they attach to the frame, creating a sculptural silhouette. This piece balances the warmth of natural materials with a functional, architectural aesthetic, making it a versatile choice for various interior design schemes.

The download is an 11.4 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

To integrate this model into a 3ds Max scene, import the geometry using merge or link commands while maintaining the original scale. The leather and wood materials are mapped to separate object IDs, allowing for quick adjustments to texture tiling or colour tinting. Users should ensure the model is placed on the floor plane and check that the pivot point is at the base for ease of rotation. Lighting setups should account for the leather's subtle specular highlights.

This armchair is well-suited for high-end residential lounge areas, boutique hotel lobbies, or executive office reading corners. It pairs effectively with low-profile coffee tables or as a standalone accent piece in minimalist interiors. Designers often search for this type of seating when specifying furniture for mid-century modern or contemporary spaces that require a balance of comfort and form. Its compact footprint makes it ideal for smaller rooms where a heavy, upholstered sofa would be inappropriate, providing both visual weight and comfort.
