Contemporary Natural Wood and Metal Wall Art

This contemporary SketchUp model features a wall-mounted art piece composed of natural wood blocks arranged on a black metal grid. This decorative wall piece consists of a rigid black metal grid frame supporting a series of rectangular wooden blocks of varying sizes and orientations. The wood panels feature a distinct natural grain and warm brown tones, contrasting with the slender, dark, geometric framework. The composition is balanced but asymmetrical, with blocks positioned both horizontally and vertically across the grid. The construction is lightweight and designed to be flush-mounted against a wall surface, providing a tactile, organic element to interior spaces. The entire assembly serves as a singular, cohesive aesthetic feature for feature walls.

The download is a 20.5 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

In SketchUp, this component is best managed as a nested group or component to maintain the relationship between the metal grid and individual wooden elements. Users should utilise the scale tool carefully to maintain the proportions of the grid members. Materials are applied as individual textures, allowing for easy adjustment of the wood grain mapping or metal finish via the materials tray. It is recommended to place this on a dedicated 'Decor' layer to toggle visibility during heavy modelling sessions.

This wall art is well-suited for living rooms, hallways, or hotel lobby feature walls where a natural, contemporary aesthetic is required. It pairs effectively with minimalist furniture, organic interior palettes, and neutral-toned wall finishes. Designers and visualisers typically search for 'feature wall art', 'wooden wall decor', or 'modern grid wall sculpture' when looking for assets to add depth and visual interest to residential or commercial interior renderings. It works particularly well in spaces featuring mid-century or japandi design influences.
