Contemporary Black Metal Open Shelving Unit

This contemporary black metal open shelving unit for 3ds Max features a slender, minimalist frame with multiple levels for curated display. This freestanding, open-concept shelving unit is constructed from a slim, matte black metal frame. Its design relies on a series of vertical uprights that extend to the floor, providing a lightweight, architectural silhouette. The horizontal shelves are evenly spaced, offering a balanced rhythm for displaying books, small sculptures, potted plants, and decorative objects. The entire assembly is finished in a uniform dark tone, emphasising its clean lines and geometric structure. This piece is ideal for creating visual interest in a room without overwhelming the space, thanks to its airy, transparent profile.

The download is a 20.9 MB compressed archive containing the native 3ds Max (.max) model, set up with Corona materials. Open it in 3ds Max with Corona installed; for other programs, export to FBX or OBJ from 3ds Max first.

In 3ds Max, this asset is organised with clean geometry for efficient scene management. Users can easily adjust the positioning of the unit within a space by snapping the base to the floor plane. The material shaders are set up to handle standard lighting environments, allowing for quick adjustments to reflections or highlight intensity. As a high-quality block, it is ready to be merged into interior scenes, where it can be populated with additional assets to complete a styled room composition.

This shelving unit is well-suited for modern living rooms, home offices, or sophisticated retail showrooms where a clean, industrial-inspired look is required. It works effectively as a room divider or as a focal point against a feature wall. Designers often search for open shelving when aiming to maintain a sense of space in smaller apartments or open-plan layouts. It pairs seamlessly with minimalist furniture and contemporary decor, providing a functional yet aesthetic solution for organising and showcasing personal collections or professional literature.
