About this asset

This Japanese Zen garden scene for SketchUp features meticulously raked gravel, sculpted pine trees, and stone lanterns. Designed as a traditional karesansui, or dry landscape garden, this scene provides a tranquil outdoor setting. It consists of a large, flat area covered in fine grey gravel, textured with circular raking patterns around key stone placements. Two mature, characterful pine trees anchor the composition, providing height and organic contrast to the hardscape. A stone lantern sits beside a weathered stone bench, where a small human figure is positioned to provide scale. The entire space is enclosed by a vertical timber slat fence that filters light and provides a sense of enclosure.

The download is a 38.6 MB compressed archive containing the native SketchUp (.skp) model. It opens directly in SketchUp; for 3ds Max, Blender or Cinema 4D, import it through a SketchUp importer or convert it first.

As a complete SketchUp scene, this file is intended as a foundation for architectural visualisation. Users can import this into larger residential projects or use it as a reference for exterior lighting and material application. The geometry is organized to allow for easy manipulation of individual elements like the stones or plants if adjustments to the composition are required. For final renders, ensure the native materials are mapped correctly to your preferred rendering engine's shaders to maintain the intended soft, diffuse lighting quality.

This asset is ideal for residential landscape design, spa retreats, and hospitality projects requiring a meditative outdoor space. It pairs effectively with minimalist architecture or traditional Japanese-inspired structures. Professionals searching for a ready-made exterior environment will find this useful for site plan presentations, courtyard design, or as a backdrop for architectural studies. It serves as a versatile starting point for designers looking to integrate biophilic elements into their work, providing a high-quality, pre-composed base that saves significant modelling time on complex outdoor vegetation and hardscaping.
