The Faculty of Architecture and Planning (FOAP) at Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is a venerable institution with a rich history dating back to 1911 as part of the Government College of Arts & Crafts. It became an independent entity in 1976 and a constituent college of Lucknow University in 1980, known then as Government College of Architecture, Lucknow (GCA, Lucknow). Since 2000-2001, it has been affiliated with AKTU. As the oldest and sole government architecture institute in Uttar Pradesh, FOAP is distinguished by its studio-centric curriculum, fostering a comprehensive understanding of architecture within an environment that sparks creativity.
