The Interior Architecture (IA) program at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point prepares interior designers to be globally aware citizens and leaders in community development. The program focuses on creating aesthetically, socially, culturally, and environmentally responsible interiors, emphasizing the design of quality interior environments that contribute to the well-being and safety of individuals and groups, alongside incorporating sustainable design principles. This extensive four-year curriculum develops visionary, conceptual, exploratory, and analytical abilities through studies in liberal arts, sciences, and professional design preparation. It covers design history, communication, drawing, socio-cultural aspects of design, technology, and sustainable design. Students engage in professional training, designing a range of spaces from residential homes to corporate offices and multi-use facilities. Progress is monitored via professional sequence portfolio reviews, culminating in a senior portfolio for prospective employers. Graduates are equipped for entry-level interior design practice, advanced study, and NCIDQ exam eligibility.
