University of the Sacred Heart

The University of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo, established as one of the first women's universities under Japan's new educational system, centers its mission on liberal arts education to foster truly educated women. Founded on the educational philosophies of the School of the Sacred Heart, which originated in France in 1801, the university celebrated its centennial in 2016. In response to a rapidly changing society, it launched a new educational program in 2017, focusing on global symbiosis. The university aims to cultivate global and active intelligence, encouraging students' autonomous and creative motivation to learn. It offers both undergraduate and graduate studies, allowing students to select their majors at the beginning of their second year in the undergraduate school and to delve into specialized subjects in the graduate school.
