About University of Ruse

Angel Kanchev" University of Ruse is an autonomous state higher education institution in Ruse, Bulgaria. Established in 1945 as a higher technical school, it was transformed into a university in 1995. It operates with eight faculties and three branches, serving as an academic leader in the Bulgarian-Romanian cross-border and Danube regions. The university is a member of prestigious international organizations, including the European Universities Association (EUA) and the Danube Rectors' Conference (DRC), and signed the MAGNA CHARTA UNIVERSITATUM in 2018. It focuses on preparing students for competitive labor markets, ensuring quality education, developing staff and research potential, fostering European integration, and maintaining modern facilities and information databases. The university enrolls approximately 10,000 students and doctoral candidates and employs a highly qualified teaching staff of 499 full-time lecturers, including 49 professors, 177 associate professors, and 296 PhD lecturers.
