University formed in 2004 by the merger of the universities of Durban-Westville and Natal. The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) was formed in 2004 as a result of the merger between the University of Durban-Westville (UDW) and the University of Natal. UKZN strives to be the Premier University of African Scholarship. Bachelor of Architecture Honours Bachelor Honours This program engages with progressive professional architectural knowledge, expertise and proficiencies related to the study and vocation of architecture. The Architecture Discipline and its accompanying programs (Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Bachelor of Architecture Honours, and Master of Architecture) were awarded full accreditation by the Architecture Validation Board (South African Council for the Architectural Profession - SACAP) on November 25, 2015. The SACAP-accredited Master's programs are internationally aligned, being substantially equivalent to Canberra Accord signatories.

Requirements

Master of Architecture: A postgraduate qualification in Architecture at NQF Level 8 or admitted to the status thereof by the university. A Concept Note outlining the proposed topic for the Architectural Research Dissertation must be submitted upon application. If no Research Methods credits from an Honours qualification, registration may be part-time, requiring completion of the ARCH7RM - Architectural Research Methodology module.

Bachelor of Architecture Honours: An undergraduate architecture qualification at NQF level 7 with a minimum of 60% average across all modules, and at least 60% for Architectural Design and Theory of Architecture modules at the exit level. Candidates with an academic average between 50% and 60% require at least two years of architectural work experience. An Architectural Design Portfolio is also required.

Bachelor of Architectural Studies: A minimum of 30 academic points (excluding Life Orientation) and Level 5 Mathematics (not Maths literacy). Applicants must submit a portfolio including drawing and written components, with original work only, on A4 paper.
