This program prepares students to address complex challenges in cities and regions and is a gateway to opportunities in planning-related practices. Planners hold positions in environmental sustainability, economic development, housing production and policy, and land use and transportation planning.

The Design program provides a challenging and creative environment for design students, emphasizing a strong foundation in theatre design and the exploration of digital tools. Incoming students specialize in sound, lighting, costume, or scenic design, developing knowledge across disciplines to foster collaboration.

Students investigate cities and urban life in physical, environmental, social, economic, and political manifestations. Courses explore the causes, prevalence, and consequences of urban challenges, as well as theory and practice in addressing such challenges.

This interdisciplinary program integrates theories, analytical tools, and experiences from social and natural sciences to investigate the causes, prevalence, and consequences of environmental challenges. It develops approaches for addressing environmental problems.

The Department of Art in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts takes a wide-ranging, interdisciplinary view of contemporary art practice, with an emphasis on experimentation and innovation. The Department of Art is viewed as a leader in genres addressing cultural identity and emerging technologies.

The minor in Digital Arts allows students to receive hands-on experience with current software tools, creating and sharing digital media art projects, developing an appreciation of digital media aesthetics and conceptual design. Students examine how digital culture evolves through interdisciplinary collaborations among artists, engineers, scientists, and scholars.
