The Faculty of Architecture at Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) originated in 1978, founded by local engineers and architects to foster architectural professionals in Michoacán. Over more than three decades, the faculty has evolved to meet the demands of a changing society, preparing architects with critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze social realities. The program emphasizes proposing solutions for social transformation and improving quality of life, all while upholding professional ethics, social responsibility, and sustainable development. Graduates are equipped with leadership capabilities to successfully integrate into local, national, and international labor markets. They gain knowledge in architectural solutions, interaction with cultural, natural, and social environments, and resource optimization. The Programa Interinstitucional de Doctorado en Arquitectura (PIDA) is recognized by the Programa Nacional de Posgrados de Calidad (PNPC) of CONACYT as an International Competence Program. The Maestría en Diseño Avanzado was seeking PNPC accreditation as of 2014.
