About Tuskegee University

The Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science (TSACS) at Tuskegee University is named after Robert Robinson Taylor, the first accredited African-American architect and the first Black graduate of MIT with an architecture degree. Taylor, who developed Tuskegee's architecture program, embraced the university's founding principle of 'Learning to do by doing' and his own 'design-build' philosophy. TSACS aims to cultivate technically proficient and socially conscious professionals for the built environment through excellence in education, experiential learning, advanced research, and cutting-edge technology. The architecture curriculum is a broadly based, two-plus-three year program, offering courses in architectural design, technology, practice, urban planning, and history and theory. The school prides itself on producing a high percentage of licensed architects in the Southeast, empowering graduates to be innovative leaders who design and build with integrity for the benefit of communities and the global environment.

Preferred Freshman Admission: ACT Composite Score of 21 or SAT Score of 1080, and unweighted 3.0 cumulative high-school GPA. High school coursework must include 4 years English, 3 years Social Studies, 3 years Mathematics (including Algebra I, Algebra II, and Geometry/Trig/Calculus/Analysis), and 2 years Science (including Biology and a Physical Science).

Professional Program Admission (after first two years): Minimum 2.25 overall GPA, 2.50 GPA in architecture courses, and a portfolio of graphic work demonstrating expected competence.
