The Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU), established on April 25, 2019, is a public tertiary education institution in Greece. It is a continuation of the former Technological Educational Institute of Crete, founded in 1983. With its headquarters in Heraklion and branches across Chania, Rethymno, Agios Nikolaos, and Sitia, HMU is one of the largest higher education institutions in the country. It accommodates over 12,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students and employs approximately 400 academic and technical staff.
