About Reykjavik Technical School

The Technical College Reykjavik (Tækniskólinn) is the largest vocational school in Iceland, serving approximately 2,500 students and employing over 250 staff members in both day school and distance learning. The institution was formed in 2008 through the merger of Iðnskólinn í Reykjavík (founded in 1904) and Fjöltækniskóli Íslands, which comprised the Navigational College (1891), the Marine Engineering College (1915), and the Icelandic Flight Academy (1998). A further merger in 2015 with Iðnskólinn í Hafnarfjörður solidified its position as the biggest college in Iceland. The college focuses on providing education that prepares students for professions and higher education, emphasizing practical skills and a strong academic foundation.
