Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art

The Pont-Aven School of Contemporary Art (PASCA), though its doors closed in 2011, remains an influential artistic touchstone, rooted in the late 19th-century Pont-Aven School movement. Founded in 1993 in Pont-Aven, Brittany, France, PASCA provided an international fine arts program for advanced undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Inspired by Paul Gauguin and his contemporaries, the school fostered an environment where students explored synthetism, characterized by the simplification of forms, bold colors, and the rejection of traditional perspective. PASCA offered a unique educational experience, combining studio practice with critical discourse and cultural site seminars in major European art capitals.
