About Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (PUPR)

The School of Architecture at Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico (PUPR), known as ARQPOLI, established its undergraduate program in 1995 within PUPR's compact urban campus in San Juan. As part of the largest Hispanic-serving engineering school in the U.S., ARQPOLI educates a diverse body of over 5,000 students. Its core mission is to cultivate comprehensive personal, intellectual, and professional skills essential for students to effectively research, conceive, design, coordinate, supervise, and evaluate building construction and spaces. The curriculum is meticulously structured to enhance technological knowledge, foster information literacy, and develop creative, critical, and ethical stances. It operates within a deep appreciation for the Caribbean's rich architectural legacy, while simultaneously reframing it into a dynamic, translocal cultural condition that informs the school's contemporary development. The program is designed to address multidisciplinary, local, and international concerns, ensuring students receive continuous and integrated exposure to all facets of architecture from their freshman year, preparing them for a wide array of professional challenges and contributions.
