About Nka Foundation

Nka Foundation, established in 2005, is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering artistic, humanitarian, and educational initiatives. Its core mission involves building cultural bridges and supporting community development across Africa and other industrially developing regions. The foundation aims to create a synergy between the arts and local communities to promote livelihood skills, knowledge, and personal growth. It emphasizes human capital development through diverse art forms, including visual arts, design, and architecture. Nka Foundation operates two main arts village sites in Ghana: Abetenim, located near Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, and Sang, near Tamale in the Northern Region. These sites facilitate 1-6 month project residencies and design-build camps, attracting students, graduates, and professionals eager to engage in sustainable, vernacular African architecture and rural community projects. Participants gain hands-on experience, focusing on local and eco-friendly materials like earth, straw, and wood.
