About Marylhurst University

Marylhurst University was a private, Roman Catholic applied liberal arts and business university located in Marylhurst, Oregon. Founded in 1893 as St. Mary's College by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, it was the first liberal arts college for women in the Pacific Northwest. In 1974, it became co-educational, and in 1998, it was reorganized as Marylhurst University, expanding its academic programs to serve a diverse student body, including many adult learners. The university offered bachelor's degree completion programs in various liberal arts and business fields, as well as graduate degrees. Due to declining enrollment, Marylhurst University ceased operations and permanently closed at the end of summer 2018.
