About LUCA School of Arts

LUCA School of Arts is the only university college in Flanders exclusively dedicated to art and design, uniquely combining the strengths of five renowned Flemish higher education institutions across its campuses in Brussels, Genk, Ghent, and Leuven. It is a member of the KU Leuven Association, fostering an intensive collaboration where LUCA is responsible for bachelor and master degrees in the arts, while KU Leuven handles doctorates. The institution embraces a 'permeable campus' philosophy, particularly at its Sint-Lukas Brussels campus, which has a rich history in art and architecture education. This campus, once a labyrinth of traditional art school spaces, has been renovated to retain its informal charm while facilitating cross-disciplinary collaboration among classrooms, art studios, and offices. LUCA offers over fifty study trajectories rooted in contemporary artistic developments, with a strong emphasis on artistic practice supported by a sound theoretical basis and up-to-date digital techniques. Artistic research is a permanent part of its academic range, with faculty members often holding dual affiliations with both LUCA and KU Leuven.
