La Sabranenque, Centre International

La Sabranenque, Centre International, was a non-profit organization established in 1969. It focused on the restoration and safeguarding of the medieval hamlet of Saint-Victor-la-Coste in southern France, which was initially abandoned and ruined. Through the efforts of thousands of international volunteers over 50 years, the village and its structures, including a château-fort, were restored and maintained. The organization provided a unique opportunity for participants to engage in hands-on conservation work, encouraging biodiversity and mitigating brush fire threats. Volunteers lived a cooperative life, typically staying 1 to 3 weeks, receiving meals, and working 4 hours daily. In recent times, La Sabranenque has definitively ceased its activities of welcoming new volunteers, concluding its 50-year legacy of heritage preservation.
