About Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts (GSA)

Established in 1987, the Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts (GSA) is a three-week summer program committed to nurturing Kentucky's rising high school juniors and seniors. Located in Lexington, Kentucky, since 2019, GSA provides intensive college-level training across multiple disciplines, including Architecture + Design. The Architecture + Design program introduces students to design-thinking, creative and analytical thought through drawing, sculpture, and model-building. The program emphasizes exploration of social, cultural, spatial, environmental, and abstract design concepts. GSA fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and empowers students to become impactful artist-citizens. As a program of Kentucky Performing Arts, GSA continues to shape the future of Kentucky's creative landscape, impacting over 8,000 alumni.

Rising high school sophomores and juniors; must live, attend school, or have a parent/guardian who works in Kentucky; demonstrate skills, passion, an open mind, collaborative spirit, and eagerness for learning. An application fee of $35 for one art form or $50 for two applies, with waivers for free/reduced lunch recipients.
