Harriott Curtis Collegiate

Harriott Curtis Collegiate, formerly located in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador, served students from 1962 to 2013. The school's architecture, completed with timber from British Columbia, spoke to the enduring spirit and resourcefulness of the community. Thorn Engineering of Montreal oversaw the architectural design, which incorporated heavy timber transported with significant manual effort, symbolizing the dedication invested in building the institution. Although the physical structure was demolished in 2019 to make way for senior's housing, the memories and impact of Harriott Curtis Collegiate remain. The school hosted the 3A provincial high school hockey championships in 2000, marking its significance in the region. Named after Harriot Sumner Curtis, an American amateur golfer and philanthropist, the school embodied her commitment to education and community service. Harriot Curtis Collegiate provided a foundation for countless students, fostering growth and contributing to the social fabric of St. Anthony.
