Requirements
essays: Responses to a general GSD community essay and program-specific essays (prompts available in the application).
portfolio: Required. Demonstrates creativity, aptitude for design, and capacity for three-dimensional thinking. For MArch I (without previous architecture training), should show recent creative work in visual arts or design. Preference for individual projects.
gre_scores: Required for MArch I, MArch II, MUP, and DDes programs. A minimum score of 23 for each section is considered competitive.
transcripts: Official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions.
application_fee: 90 USD
prerequisite_courses: One semester of calculus; one semester of algebra-based physics (covering mechanics and thermodynamics); two semesters of history of architecture (covering Renaissance through Modern periods at minimum). Minimum grade of B- or better required in each. AP Calculus or AP Physics scores of 4 or 5 are accepted if institutional credit is awarded.
letters_of_recommendation: Three letters, ideally at least two from college/university instructors. Employers or others can provide letters if out of school for several years.
