The Department of Architecture (Architectural Engineering) at Cairo University's Faculty of Engineering is a venerable institution, tracing its origins back to the Mohandeskhana founded in 1816 by Mohamed Aly Pasha. It is one of the oldest architecture departments in Egypt and the broader Middle East and Africa region, settling in its current Giza location in 1905 before joining Cairo University in 1935. As a leading school of thought and practice in architecture and planning, it contributes significantly to the regional engineering landscape. The department offers a Bachelor's of Science (B.Sc.) in Architecture Engineering, qualifying graduates for professional licensure with the Egyptian Engineers Syndicate, along with comprehensive postgraduate studies including Diplomas, Master's, and Doctoral Degrees across five specializations. Occupying four of the eight stories in the Architecture Building, spanning approximately 8400 square meters, it provides extensive facilities including design studios, lecture theatres, and tutorial spaces, fostering a welcoming and inclusive community.
