About Design Fabrication Zone, Ryerson University
The Design Fabrication Zone (DFZ) at Toronto Metropolitan University is an interdisciplinary incubator dedicated to uplifting creative practice and entrepreneurship in design and fabrication. Through educational workshops, public programming, and membership, the DFZ empowers its community to transform early-stage ideas into tangible prototypes, installations, and businesses. Its member-based services and mentorship connect a growing community of local makers with digital fabrication and professional development resources. Students, faculty, and the greater public are all invited to incubate their work with the DFZ. The DFZ is a joint venture between the School of Interior Design and the Department of Architectural Science, fostering rich networking opportunities for student-driven initiatives through mentorship, workshops, strategic partnerships, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
